Taking Root (grade 5-7) on Thursday night made "homeless backpacks". These packs are filled with everyday essentials like toothbrushes, toothpaste, deodorant, protein food, water bottle, bandaids, toques etc.
The kids assembled the things into a grocery bag and then they were given a mission. Take the items home, put them in a used backpack and they were given a list of possible items they can add themselves and were encouraged to write a note about God's love and put that in the bag too.
And then? To be watching and listening to the Holy Spirit about who to give the finished backpack to! Next month, when Taking Root meets again, they will share their stories of their mission!
Looking forward to what God will do through these kids!
