During our community weekend in January, we celebrated a baptism, 2 people coming into membership, and the Lord's Supper in a unique way.
Zachariah Driedger gave a testimony of faith and was baptized as he expressed his desire to follow Jesus in obedience.
Heather Dediluke and Shaun Jobson were both welcomed into membership. They have both been a great part of our church family and we're so excited to have them share more formally in our commitment to one another at Lakewood.
Our communion time focused around some time to reflect on the things that we tend to fill our lives up with - whether material things, relationships, or other things - and choosing to set those aside and instead be filled with Christ! We trust that it was a good chance for you to spend some quality time talking with and listening to God as you shared this intimate time with him.
An additional highlight on that weekend was a discussion that took place on Saturday night. As a leadership team, we've been hearing feedback that while Saturday night services have been a good thing, there is a sense of lost connectedness among our church family. It had been suggested by some who attend Saturday night that on our Community Weekends, we could encourage our whole church family to use the Saturday night to reach out to their community around them (friends, neighbours, etc.) and do something to bless them. Then on Sunday morning, people from both services could come together for one service where we could share, worship, and come to the Lord's Table together! From our discussion we came to the conclusion that it was worth a shot, so we began a trial to see how it would go in February and March. We're looking forward to hearing some feedback as this pilot continues...
